(a) One bath pad-batch method
(b) Pad-dry-steam-wash
(c) One bath pad - dry method
(d) Two bath pad-batch method

The characteristic feature of 'VS' dyes in their good dischargeability of dyed grounds.

The white discharge prints are produced on grounds dyed by any of the above dyeing method.

The illustrated shades card Adizol 'VS' dyes are dyed by pad-batch method and printed by Print - Dry - Steam method.

Dyeing :
The fabric is padded through following pad-liquor at 70 % expression and covered with plastic sheet. It is then kept for 24 hours and then washed off.

Dye : x parts/l
Urea : 50-100 parts/l
Sodium Silicate 100 șTw : 100 parts/l
(Na2O : SiO2 : 1 : 2.1)
Caustic Soda Solid : 2 parts/l
Water : Remaining parts/l

Printing :
The fabric is printed with following print paste.

Dye : 1-80 parts
Urea : 40-100 parts
Water : 200 parts
Sodium Alignate (2-4 %) : 500 parts
Sodium Bicarbonate : 10-25 parts
Resist Salt : 10 parts
Water or Alignate : Remaining parts

Total : 100 parts

The printed goods are then dried and steamed for 10-15 mts. in a star ager with satreted steam at 103 șC and washed.

While Discharged Prints :

The dyed ground is printed with following discharge printing paste.

Thickener : 500 parts
Rangolite : 150-200 parts
Titanium Dioxide (1 : 1) : 100 parts
Caustic Soda (38 șBe') : 100-200 parts
Water or Thickener : x parts

Total : 1000 parts

The printed fabric is dried at max. 90 șC temperature. It is then steamed 10-15 mts. in a star ager at 103 șC and washed.

  (a)

Increase temperature method.

  (b)

Constant temperature method.

  (c)

All-in method.

  (i) Pad dyeing methods :

They are applicable by cold pad-batch method using Sodium Silicate + Caustic Soda as alkali or Glauber's salt + Caustic Soda as alkali.

The illustrated shades of Adifix Supra 'F' Dyes in the shade card are dyed by increase temperature method.

Set the dyebath at room temp. Carry out dyeing with dye solution for 5-10 minutes. Then add half amount of required salt and continue dyeing for further 10 minutes. Add remaining half amount of salt and increase temp. to 60 șC in 20-30 mins. while continuing dyeing. At 60 șC continue dyeing for more 10 mins. Then add half amount of alkali and continue dyeing for 10-15 mins. Add remaining half amount of alkali and continue dyeing 45 to 60 mins. at 60 șC.

Then wash - Soap adn wash.

ASIAN ACID DYES ON WOOL

This shade card illustrates Acid dyestuff on Wool. In general, these dyestuffs are widely used in all branches of the wool, silk, nylon, jute and leather. They are also used in printing of Nylon & Silk.

Preparation of Goods :

It is necessary to remove all impurities from yarn or fabric to ensure level dyeing, good penetration of dye and maximum brightness of shade. This is achieved by scouring with suitable scouring agent before dyeing.

Dissolving the Dyestuff :

The requisite amount of dyestuff is pasted with cold water and boiling water is then added with stirring to dissolve the dyestuff. It is advisable to add this solution to the dyebath through a sieve or a piece of cloth so that no undissolved dye particles enter in the dyebath. The condensed or softened water should be used for making up the solution.

Dyeing Method :

Acid and Acid Milling Dyes :

Set the dyebath at 50 șC with :
(1) 5 - 10 %   Anhydrous Glsuber's Salt
  2 - 4 %   Sulphuric Acid
  OR
(2) 5 - 10 %   Anhydrous Glsuber's Salt
  2 - 4 %   Acetic Acid Glacial (40 %)
  OR
(3) 5 - 10 %   Anhydrous Glsuber's Salt
  3 - 6 %   Ammonium Sulphate
  OR
(4) Dyebath is set at 70 șC with :
  5 - 8 %   Sulphuric Acid 168 șTw
  10 - 20 %   Anhydrous Glsuber's Salt

In all the three methods, predissolved dyestuff is added into the dyebath and well scoured material entered into it. After running for five minutes at this temperature, it is gradually raised to boil in over 30 minutes. Dyeing is continued at this boiling temperature for 30 to 45 minutes. Then the material is removed, rinsed and washed well.

Acid Black WA :

(a) The dyebath is set at 70 șC :
  1.5 - 2 %   Sulphuric Acid 168 șTw
  5 - 10 %   Anhydrous Glauber's Salt

The predissolved dyestuff is added into the dyebath, the material entered at this temperature and the bath is brought to boil in over 30 minutes. After dyeing at boil for half an hour 5-6 % Sulphuric Acid 168 șTw is added into the dyebath and dyeing continued for further 1 to 1 1/4 hour. An addition of 0.3 % Potassium Bichromate is added before half and hour of completion of dyeing for added depth.

ASIAN DIRECT DYES ON COTTON

Direct dyes are employed for colouration of Cellulosic Paper, Leather, Silk & Jute etc. These are employed for production of economical shades where fastness to variuos conditions are not exacting.

The dyebath contining requisite amount of dye, 0.5 to 2 % Soda Ash and 10 to 80 % Salt is set at 50 șC. The temperature is raised to boil and the material is dyed at boil for 45-60 minutes. An aftertreatment with 0.5 to 2 % Copper Sulphate and as much quantity of Acetic Acid (30 %) at 80 șC for about an hour improves light fastness properties.
